  Light images by Cranach

In a very early age Ono Ludwig was impressed by church organizations. They were refuge, care and inspiration. In his photo artistic work are therefore often clashes with religious rituals, symbols, prayers and chants to find. Again and again it comes to the existential themes of life: joy and sorrow, life and dying, beginning and end. A central topic of interest is "Passion" – initially in terms of ferventness, but of suffering, pain and loss.

It appears a recurring question for him: How can you endure and survive suffering? Ono Ludwig looks for the answer in the light, in its refractions, in its sparkling, in its redemptive power. His work reveals the cartography of a fragile landscape of the soul in its density and intensity that indwells in all of us. The fact that it turns back to the light nevertheless again and again gives us comfort and hope.

Ludwigs series by Lucas Cranach the Elder, one of the most important painters of the German Renaissance, the deep yearning for a rebirth in the here and now are the basis, which overcomes a suffering. His light work is a reinterpretation of the reformist idea of renewal and contribute in their own way a new, modern and unique handwriting – those of the light painter Ono Ludwig.
